Kona Fishing Report July 27, 2021 – Ono. It’s What’s for Dinner

Kona Fishing Report
Published on Jul 27, 2021

Wayne Carvalho and his nephew made the drive over from Hilo this morning with the goal of catching something edible to throw on the grill. This is Wayne’s second trip with us on the Humdinger this year. They set out bright and early for a ¾ day fishing charter and Captain Brett didn’t disappoint, putting them on a nice Ono just a few hours into the charter. So they’ll put the chicken back in the freezer and enjoy some fresh grilled Ono tonight instead.

The Ono fishing has been pretty good the past few months, and for those who want to enjoy some fresh filets on their vacation, or take some fresh fish home, there is no better species to target than Ono. While other charters don’t allow their guests to keep what they catch, we are always happy for you to keep your catch, and we’ll even cut the fish for you and give you suggestions about how to get it home in the freshest condition possible.

So if you’re headed to Kona this year and want to try and catch some delicious fresh fish to take home, be sure to check our current availability on our website and book online for our lowest available rates. Due to very high demand right now, be sure to book early as we are typically booked a month or two out at the present time.

We look forward to seeing you in Kona very soon.

Aloha,

Kona Fishing Report August 11, 2021 – Nice Ono on an Afternoon Fishing Charter

Probably one of the best things about fishing in Kona is the fact you can catch any number of species on any given day within a few minutes of leaving the slip. Because of this, even on a 4-hour afternoon fishing charter, it is possible to catch a giant blue marlin or just something delicious to throw on the grill for dinner.
