Kona Fishing Report March 2013

Kona Fishing Report
Published on Apr 05, 2013

Fishing in Kona during March was pretty unbelievable.  Kona gave up not one but TWO world records in March (Pending Verification).  First, the women’s all tackle world record was set in Kona during March on a fish weighing just shy of 1,000 lbs.  Then, a second world record for the men’s striped marlin on 20 lb fly tippet was also set during the month of March.

The Humdinger had several notable catches during March with one fish tagged and release that weighed and estimated 500Lbs PLUS.  we also caught a number of blue marlin and striped marlin during the month of March as well as a few shortbilled spearfish mixed in as well.  The fishing for Blue marlin and striped marlin continues to be consistent, while the spearfish and and Ono should should start to begin showing up in greater numbers during April and May.  The months of June through September are the prime months for Blue marlin and Yellowfin Tuna, and are also our busiest months of the year for fishing charters in Kona, so be sure and book your Kona Fishing Charters early.

Now sit back and enjoy a few of our more noteable catches we made during March.

Kona Fishing Report August 11, 2021 – Nice Ono on an Afternoon Fishing Charter

Probably one of the best things about fishing in Kona is the fact you can catch any number of species on any given day within a few minutes of leaving the slip. Because of this, even on a 4-hour afternoon fishing charter, it is possible to catch a giant blue marlin or just something delicious to throw on the grill for dinner.
