Kona Fishing Report

Kona Fishing Report – February 19, 2017 – Kailua-Kona, The Big Island of Hawaii – The past few weeks the fishing has been up and down with the weather. We have had a several periods of windy weather with frontal systems moving over the big island that have made fishing a bit more spotty and the water a little more choppy too. When the weather has cooperated, so have the fish.

The winter fishing season is in full gear here and we have been catching the typical species for this time of year; Shortbilled Spearfish, Mahimahi and Striped Marlin. Also this week we were able to put clients on a few nice Blue Marlin, one of which we released with another satellite tag, and the occasional Ono (Wahoo). All in all, the fishing has been decent to good when the weather has cooperated.

Be sure to check out all of our recent catches on our Facebook page at https://Facebook.com/HumdingerSportfishing and like and follow our page to stay up to date with all the action on the Humdinger in Kona Hawaii. If you are planning a trip to the Big Island later this year, be sure to check our availability on our website and book your fishing charters early for our lowest available rates.

Hope to see you in Kona this year.

Aloha,
Capts. Jeff and Brett Fay

Kona Fishing Report August 11, 2021 – Nice Ono on an Afternoon Fishing Charter

Probably one of the best things about fishing in Kona is the fact you can catch any number of species on any given day within a few minutes of leaving the slip. Because of this, even on a 4-hour afternoon fishing charter, it is possible to catch a giant blue marlin or just something delicious to throw on the grill for dinner.
